What is Top Dost?
A free iPhone app that puts a cartoon buddy, Hoo the owl, at the top of your iPhone and on your Lock Screen during a cricket match. You pick a match and your side, and Hoo cheers your fours and sixes, sulks at your wickets and celebrates the win.
When can I get it?
Soon. Top Dost is coming to the App Store for iPhone, and this page will show the download link the day it’s live.
Is it free?
Yes. It's free to download. Following a match, Practice Match and My Pin are free, with no ads and no sign-up. An optional yearly Dost Pass is planned for people who want more.
Which iPhone and iOS version do I need?
iPhone with iOS 17 or later (iPhone XS, XR and later). The score and buddy appear on the Lock Screen on all of them. The Dynamic Island view needs an iPhone that has one: iPhone 14 Pro and later Pro models, and iPhone 15 and later (some models, such as iPhone 16e, don’t have one).
Is there an Android, iPad or Apple Watch version?
Not at the moment. Top Dost is for iPhone only.
Which matches and teams can I follow?
You pick from a list of matches inside the app. Which matches appear depends on our score data provider, and we'll list what's covered here once the beta confirms it. Team names show as plain text only.
How fast are the scores?
Scores come from a third-party cricket data provider and may be a few minutes behind the live broadcast.
What if there's no match on?
Start a Practice Match (a made-up game with buttons for 4, 6, wicket, dot, win, loss and reset; it works offline) or pin your own note, emoji or countdown with My Pin.
Why did it stop after 8 hours?
iPhone ends every Live Activity automatically after about 8 hours. It's an iPhone limit, not a fault. If a long match is still going, tap the card on your Lock Screen to keep following.
Does it drain my battery?
It's built to be light. Top Dost doesn't keep running in the background to fetch scores. Small updates arrive only when the score changes, and most are silent. Hoo uses still poses rather than constant animation, and the activity ends when the match does.
Do I need an account? What data do you collect?
No account. No ads, no tracking and no third-party analytics. To send score updates, your iPhone gives our server an anonymous push code from Apple, which we keep only while you follow the match and delete when it ends. We also count how many people follow each match, as daily totals with no IDs. Your side and your My Pin text stay on your iPhone. The privacy policy has the details.
Is Top Dost an official cricket app?
No. It's an independent app. It isn't affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by any cricket board, league, team or player. Hoo and the other buddies are original characters.
Is there betting or fantasy?
No. There's no betting, odds or fantasy, and no links to them.
Who makes it?
One independent developer in India.
